Benjamin NP XL Question

Postby BamaFan on Wed Mar 10, 2010 5:19 pm

After all settles down and my wife quits giving me looks  for all the money I've spent on my Mrod, "that gun" as she calls it, I am interested in the Benji NP XL probably in .22 cal. I've heard that it is made in China. Can anyone confirm? I looked at Crosman.com, but didn't find anything. Thx!

Steve, As a matter of fact I have toss the idea around a bit. I haven't decided if I want to get a break barrel or not, just as a back door gun. Hmmm guess I have some thinking to do yet. Either way I go, I will most likely get a .25 Mrod sooner or later.

Shawn, Yeah I think the .25 is gonna be quite the piece when it comes out. They say the nitro piston break barrel is suppose to be very comfortable to shoot, no more "Slam Bam" stuff. But like you said, Is it "MADE IN CHINA"??? No info on the website as to it's where abouts? Cheers. Steve

Shawn,

According to Tom Gaylord who reports for PyramydAir, the NP is made here (USA) at the Crosman Corp. in NY. :D http://www.pyramydair.com/blog/2009/06/ ... troke.html

I think the one he is referring to here is the NPSS which is now marketed through Remington. But then again I might be missing something. I will keep checking into it. I sure it is nothing a quick email to Crosman, on my part, won't clear up.

BammaFan,

Benjamin Trail XL

Tom Gaylord is in the midst of a review on this gun. This is the link to part 4.

It looks like a good rifle, this was my first choice till I upgraded to the Mrod.

Received a reply from Crosman. See below
Shawn -

The Benjamin XL series rifles are made in China to our specifications. If you are looking for a Nitro piston gun made in the US, look to the the Remington NPSS rifles, they are made right here in E Bloomfield, NY.

Thank you for contacting Crosman Corporation.

Shawn:

If you go with the NPSS you will be dissapointed. You will be taking a big step backwards. Although tauted as a big improvement over a springer, it is only a slight improvement.

I started with a Gamo Big Cat changed the trigger and scope. I eventually got better than the gun. I started to go straight to the Mrod, but decided to go with the NPSS first. Yes, it is an improvement about 20% overall, but the Mrod is a 200% improvement.

You buying a NPSS would be like going from a Porsche to a Volkswagon Beetle. Leave the Porsche by the back door.
